After two years of having a home office, we decided to transition the space into a guest room. Not only is it nice to have a space for guests, but we also recently put our home on the market, so it makes more sense to show this bedroom as a bedroom, rather than an office.

Don’t worry – we have a nook downstairs in our kitchen that has become my home office that I can share deets on! Obviously, we had to get rid of some things, before bringing more into the space, so here’s what we did:
Declutter & Donate – One of the first things we did was go through all of my office stuff, and anything that was no longer needed or wanted we got rid of. This step is key! Make sure to go through drawers, shelves, closets – everything! It can also be helpful to pack things away that aren’t used all the time! I only left the essentials out on my desk downstairs.
Get Cozy – A guest room should always feel cozy, comfortable, and inviting. To achieve this look, we went for layered bedding and invested in warm materials like wool/cashmere throws for bed as well as patterned pillows for added texture. These items gave the room a luxurious feel while also making it appear more put together than ever before! We pulled in our old night stands, and upgraded our master bedroom ones which was definitely money well spent!
Add Storage – Because this space isn’t really used, we made sure that storage was ample but also, things were tucked away if someone does stay! The entire closet is currently used as our linen closet & storage (with easier access than our crawl space). We also have buckets under the bench that hide things away which worked out well – we already had these!
It can be fun to decorate a guest room, but there’s no need to spend a ton of money to do so. By decluttering, getting cozy with fabrics, and adding discreet storage solutions, you can create a guest room that still allows you to make use of the room for storage.
Thanks for reading, I’ll share more rooms soon xx.
